This video demonstrates the simple process. It’s child’s play!

The more droplets required, the harder the water.
If the water discolours after 1 drop* – your water is as soft as soft can be.

    • 4 drops = Passable (you should still just about get bubbles in the bath)
    • 8 drops = Moderately hard (will wash the daylights out of your skin and clothes)
    • 12 drops = Exceptionally hard (a helmet in the shower is recommended)

*1 drop = 20 parts per million (ppm)

The hardness of water is determined by the milligrams of calcium carbonate per litre and is reported it in parts-per-million (ppm). In general, water with less than 60 ppm is considered soft, water with 60-120 ppm is moderately hard and water with greater than 120 ppm is hard.
