We have seen it on countless occasions…
Clients who’ve spent a packet on upgrading their property with an all-singing, all-dancing new kitchen, with state-of-the art ovens, spectacular island features, wonderful work surfaces. Everything looks magnificent.
Out with the old, in with the new, as they say. And then, suddenly, it comes to light that something important has been overlooked. One part of the original kitchen that hasn’t been upgraded and really should have been – the water system.
The evidence of this oversight is all too clear to see. Within a few short weeks of the installation, the areas around the taps start to look stained with limescale. Those shiny, new surfaces appear less and less pristine and require more and more cleaning. Suddenly, the idea of a water softener comes into sharp focus. “Why didn’t we think of it sooner?” exclaims the homeowner.
It’s an easy mistake to make. In all the excitement and upheaval of having a new kitchen, the good old water softener gets overlooked.
The good news, however, is that we can usually carry out an installation retrospectively. But this is sometimes not possible, depending on how the new kitchen has been plumbed in. Believe it or not, we have found situations where a builder has buried the stop cock, which makes it impossible for us to then hook up a soft water feed into the mains. Absolutely crackers!
Even without this type of scenario, it’s so much easier for us to carry out an installation whilst your new kitchen is being installed, rather than afterwards.
Our advice would be not to let the fitting of a water softener be an afterthought. Make it an integral part of any upgrade or refit. If you are planning a new kitchen and new appliances and you want soft water to be part of your plans, let us know in good time. Then we can work with your builder or plumber to fit the installation, in conjunction with other work being carried out to your property.
The last thing you want is a pristine kitchen quickly spoilt by limescale build up around the taps, the sink, the kettle – it gets everywhere! By making the investment at the outset, we’ll help you avoid unnecessary expense further down the line – and rid you of that crusty eye-sore for ever more.
As highlighted in a previous blog, whichever kitchen surfaces you have chosen – Corian, granite, stainless steel or composite wood – we are entirely comfortable installing soft water filters and taps. We’ll ensure an expert finish every time.
Once it’s done, it’s done for good. No more worries about water stains spoiling your home – just lovely, fresh soft water for all your household needs.
